Computer Simulation of Microstructure Transformation for 42CrMo Bar During Cooling After Hot-Rolling

Abstract:Aiming at the problem of microstructure control for 42CrMo bar, a mathematical model of phase transformation was proposed on the base of time temperature transformation (TTT) curve with the combination of thermodynamics and kinetics of phase transformation. Meanwhile, the temperature field of cooling process and the microstructure transformation of 42CrMo bar was simulated by means of employing the FEM analysis software ANSYS and proposed mathematical model. In addition, the simulation results of temperature field and microstructure transformation are in accordance with the measured ones and correctly reflect the changes of temperature field and microstructure, which indicates that the method plays a guiding role in the control of microstructure and the improvement of cooling process, in the meantime, the method can reduce waste of test and increase the benefit of economy and environmental protection remarkably.
