Abstract：Serious situations from energy consumption， environmental protection， market competition， etc. Faced by coking process in steel plants and independent coking plants and their developing status were analyzed in this paper. With the theoretical guidance of metallurgical process engineering， clean process was developed， clean products were produced， clean environment was created and process value was innovated. Meanwhile， engineering technology strategic solutions for coking industry were put forward， including general thought， technical route， development targets， key supporting technologies and relevent policy suggestions.
