Abstract：This article makes a review of the steel industry in the 12th Five-Year Period from seven aspects such as major influence on national economy， product quality， service level， process equipment， environmental protection and standardization， technical innovation as well as resources security system. Meanwhile it illustrates some key issues of the steel industry such as excess capacity， debt crisis etc. Then the article creatively put forward strategic orientations of Chinese steel industry covering import and export， layout， restructuring， resources， innovation， intelligence， green development etc.
