Abstract:The quality status of HRB400/400E and HRB500/500E high strength hot-rolled reinforcing rebars was thorough investigated. The samples of hot-rolled reinforcing rebars were taken from steel companies and construction sites throughout the country. Their chemical composition,macrograph,microstructure and section hardness of the samples were analyzed. Based on their chemical composition,the high strength hot-rolled reinforcing rebars can be classified into four categories:V microalloyed reinforcing rebars,low V reinforcing rebars(<0.02%V),20MnSi reinforcing rebars and C-Mn reinforcing rebars. The macrograph and microstructure observation show that,only vanadium microalloyed reinforcing rebars can completely meet the microstructure requirements of hot-rolled reinforcing rebars while other three kinds of reinforcing rebars have hardening layer with tempering matensite on the surface. Based on quality analysis results of high strength hot rolled reinforcing rebars,it is necessary to revise further the current national standard for hot rolled ribbed rebars(GB1499.2-2007).
