Abstract：Pulse magneto oscillation (PMO) technology was originally developed by the team of Center for Advanced Solidification Technology 18 years ago. Since PMO can produce the significant grain refinement and homogenization of solidified structures， and its commercial equipment has been successfully employed in the steel production， it has been regarded as a technical breakthrough in metallurgy industry. The already achieved results show that the PMO technology not only cause homogenization of solidified structures in continuous casting billets significantly and steadily， but also is very flexible for the continuous casting processing. The technique principle， equipment composition， and its application in continuous casting were reviewed. Currently， PMO technology for largesection slabs is under development， this technology is expected to be applied in any kind of continuous casting machine.
