Abstract Appropriate measures must be taken to strictly control inclusion content in the molten steel during the product process of electric steel because the inclusion in final steel product can remarkably influence on its properties especially for electric steel which has strictly requirements for the purity of molten steel. In this paper the authors investigate the category, content and granularity distribution of inclusion in continuous casting tundish when CSP was used to produce electric steel in Ma Steel. Then analyse and evaluate the inclusion removing capability of CC tundish. The results by test show that the CC tundish after rebuilding and optimization can almost remove inclusion larger than 40m in liquid steel, and provide assembling and growing kinetic condition for inclusion less than 30m. The tundish has powerful capability of inclusion removing, which guarantees that high-quality electric steel can be produced.
