Original Position Analysis of Central Segregation in Continuously Cast Slab of 10CrNiCu Steel |

Abstract The central segregation of continuously cast slab of 10CrNiCu steel and its effect on mechanical properties were studied by original position analysis (OPA). Result shows that with electromagnetic stirring (SEMS) in secondary cooling zone, the maximum segregation rate of almost all elements in the slab is decreased obviously. The maximum positive segregation rate of C, Cr, Ni and Si is decreased by over 50%. The result also shows that the OPA is a very useful technique for process optimization and quality control for continuous casting.
