Abstract A technology combining ultrafast cooling with slow cooling after high temperature finishing rolling was created against the serious precipitation of carbide network. In 60 mm rod cooled at 200 ℃/s ultrafast cooling device after finishing train, the precipitation of carbide network was restrained, and fine laminar pearlitesorbite was obtained through pseudoeutectoid transformation. The size of pearlite grains was decreased owing to promotion of pearlite nucleation, and the pearlite laminar was finer due to the reduction of C diffusion.
