Abstract The SEN clogging,slab width variation, developed columnar crystals, and slab fracture of 409L steel are caused by special physical properties and stabilization element addition.The study of solidification, elevated temperature physical properties and precipitation of 409L was carried out. The preliminary solution was got to solve these technical problems, and the product quality was enhanced.
