Abstract On the basis of BF Ironmaking technology, considering expert knowledge of reactions at high temperature among iron bearing materials and softening and melting characteristics of them,an optimal burden model of BF was set up according to the linear programming theory. The calculated burdens were compared with the actual ones. The results show that the model is reasonable and it can be used to realize both smooth operation and cost reduction.
