Study on Section Homogeneity of V-N Microalloyed High Strength Bulb Flat Steel |

Abstract In this paper the effect of V-N microalloying on section homogeneity of mechanical properties of bulb flat steel is studied by analyzing the mechanical properties, microstructures and precipitated phases at different section positions which always different at mechanical performance. The results show that V-N microalloying helps to improve section homogeneity of mechanical property for bulb flat steel, especially for strength enhancement in center of bulb. The above phenomena are closely associated with different precipitation behavior in different section positions of bulb flat steel. The V(C,N) precipitated at the center of bulb produce better strengthening effect than that at other sites and this strengthening effect can compensate mechanical properties besides difference of microstructure, therefore decreasing the different mechanical performance in the section of bulb flat steel.
