Phase equilibrium study and thermodynamic analysis on secondary refining process of titaniummicroalloyed steel

Abstract:Abstract:In order to understand balanced distribution behavior and trend of Ti between slag and steel during secondary refining process of titaniummicroalloyed steel, based on the molecular interaction volume model (MIVM), activity calculation model of CaO-Al2O3-FeO-TiO2 molten slag was established by unifying standard state of activity of binary system and optimizing parameters of the model. The activities of each component in the slag were predicted. The equilibrium distribution of Ti between refining slag CaO-Al2O3-FeO-TiO2 and titaniumcontaining molten steel Fe-Al-Ti-O and its influencing factors were studied by MIVM and Wagner formula under the condition of secondary refining of titaniumcontaining steel. The results show that predicted activities of FeO in the slag are in reasonable agreement with experimental data, and the average relative errors between calculated values by using MIVM and experimental data is 9%.The calculated equilibrium distribution ratios of Ti between the refining slag and titaniumcontaining molten steel are in reasonable agreement with industrial data. The distribution ratios increases with the decrease of Al content in molten steel, the increase of temperature and the increase of CaO/Al2O3 in slag, and these results are consistent with the actual production. These conclusions show that MIVM has a good predictive effect on the component activity of multicomponent Tibearing slag system, and the designed method of phase equilibrium research is reasonable and feasible. This research can provide some reference for the basic theoretical research of chemical metallurgy of Tibearing alloy steel.
