Abstract:Abstract:High carbon martensitic stainless steel is widely used in the cutlery industry due to the high hardness, good wear resistance and moderate corrosion resistance. Microstructure and properties of the new high-carbon martensitic stainless steel 6Cr16MoVRE were studied by means of characterization method and performance test, like optical microscopy, scanning electron microscope, hardness and impact toughness test, friction and wear test, corrosion resistance test and antibacterial property test. These results were compared with the reference samples of 5Cr15MoV and 9Cr18MoV. It is found that the carbides of 6Cr16MoVRE are fine and evenly distributed in the matrix. Compared with the other two steels, 6Cr16MoVRE has high hardness and best impact toughness, good wear resistance and excellent corrosion resistance. In addition, 6Cr16MoVRE has excellent antibacterial properties due to the addition of Ag. The new 6Cr16MoVRE has excellent performance and can be used to make highend tools. This study is conducive to the transformation and upgrading of domestic knife and scissors industry.
