Abstract:In order to know the content, size and source of inclusions in ship plate steel casting slab, large inclusions of B, D ship plate steel casting slabs were extracted by the means of large sample electrolysis. Appearances and components of inclusions were analyzed using SEM(Scanning Electron Microscope) and EDS(Energy Dispersive Spectrometer). And sources of inclusions larger than 50 μm were analyzed. The results show that the maximum inclusion content appears in the width 1/4 of slab. Inclusions larger than 50 μm in the slab mainly come from slag entrapment in casting process. Others are products of calcium treatment for inclusions in steel during LF refining process, erosion of submerged nozzle and refractory, and secondary oxidation of liquid steel.
