Numerical Simulation of Flow Field for Six Strands Tundish

Abstract:The flow field of six-strand tundish was simulated using fluid dynamics package FLUENT. The characteristics of six-strand tundish flow field are analysed. The path lines of fluid and flow field in tundish are compared on the condition of tundish with C shape weir or without weir. The simulation results show that the liquid steel among outlets is homogeneous with the join of C shape weir, which is favourable for the inclusion removal. The results are essential for optimizing the dam and weir parameters of six-strand tundish.
