Abstract According to the fact of the No.1 slab CC tundish at Linfen Iron and Steel Company, the physical modeling and mathematical modeling method were used to make certain the best flow control device. The experiment model, which was 05 of the prototype and was made of Plexiglas, was built and the experiments were done based on the Froude similarity by similarity principle. And optimize slab CC tundish figuration. After optimization, the flowing condition of molten steel has been improved, molten steel can flow properly, the fluid surface keeps steady and the temperature of molten steel becomes more uniform. When the minimum time of residence of molten steel lengthens, the proportion of piston flow enlarges and the floating upward of the inclousion increases, it becomes more facilitated to clean the molten steel.
