Numerical Simulation of Molten Steel Stream Flow Field With Bias Flow in Billet Mold |

Abstract In the experiment, a model was created based on the mold of a stainless steel billet continuous caster of 165mm×163mm. The distribution of flow field and liquid level fluctuation in the billet mold with a nozzle deviated from the center of the mold inlet with different distance were investigated. The CFX software was used to simulate the process. The results show that the impact of molten steel stream on the billet shell of outer arc is weakened when the nozzle deviates from the centre of the mold inlet by 12mm. At the same time, the backflow of molten steel on the wall of the mold can flow to the meniscus and the distribution of flow field in the mold is more reasonable.
