Abstract Hunan Valin Xiangtan Iron and Steel Group Co., Ltd. imported a big bloom and abnormity EMS stirrer system from ABB, but some disfigurements were found during production, including tie-in leakage, insulation fall, short life time etc. Aimed at solving those disfigurements, an improvement of research and design was performed. In this paper, ABB stirrer’s configuration, characteristic and disfigurements were introduced, and magnetic field distribution was briefly described. In order to ensure magnetic intensity, an ANSYS emulator software was used to simulate theoretic magnetic field，and it is confirmed that the magnetic intensity can meet technical requirement.
