Abstract Composite solidification coefficient of slab has a very important effect on calculation slab sheel thickness and of solidification end location. Composite solidification coefficient was measured by pin-shooting method, and the connection of solidification end location and casting speed was calculated to offer guidance for soft-reduction of solidification end. Comparing slab’s macroscopic structure before and after soft-reduction, the effect of soft-reduction is good.
