Effects of La on mechanical properties of fecral stainless steel under high temperature
In order to explore the effects of La on mechanical properties of FeCrAl stainless steel under high temperature, mechanical properties under high temperature were tested on FeCrAl stainless steel by gleeble 3500. The fracture microstructure and morphology of the investigated steel after drawing were analyzed by means of Optical Microscopy (OM) and Scanning Electron Microscopy (SEM). The results show that the addition of La improves the tensile strength of FeCrAl stainless steel and removes the third brittleness zone. From the analysis results of fracture morphology, deep dimples were found on the surface of fracture under the temperature of high plastic zone, and the fracture mechanism mainly belongs to transcrystalline rupture. Cleavage fracture and shallow dimples were found on the surface of fracture under the temperature of low plastic zone, and the fracture mechanism mainly belongs to intergranular fracture.

Simulation experiments for slivers on the edge of heavy plate
Steel plates have to change their size or even change into batch waste caused by slivers on plate edge which is came from folding of the plate edge during the production in heavy plate. The reasons for slivers and folding were found by inspecting and analyzing samples from simulating rolling slab experiments.

Coupling of fluid flow and solidification with roll type electromagnetic stirring in continuous slab casting
Based on the Maxwell’s and the[k-ε]turbulence equations, a transportation model has been developed to simulate the electromagnetic stirring (EMS) in a solidifying strand. The interaction of solidification and fluid flow in an ultra-thick slab under the effect of roll-type EMS has been investigated. The results show that solidified shell significantly weakens the effect of EMS. The velocity of molten steel and the range of the re-circulation region in liquid pool decrease compared to those without solidification in continuous slab casting. The solid shell is influenced by the interaction of heat transfer and fluid flow with EMS.

Discussion of effective thermal conductivity in heat transfer models of continuous casting
Deals with the influence of effective thermal conductivity on the results of heat transfer models of continuous casting. Heat transfer models can predict the surface temperature and solidification end accurately, but shell thickness of the earlier stage of solidification becomes thinner when thermal conductivity is large. On the other hand, the value of thermal conductivity affects the prediction of mushy zone greatly. When the thermal conductivity is larger, the liquid steel turn into the mushy zone earlier. Hence, the thickness of mushy zone is thicker, temperature gradient in the mushy zone is smaller, and local solidification time is longer. Changing convection equivalent factor[(m)]to fit the calculated number and measured number is practicable method to determine the value of m. As to casting machine, while setting[m=7]in the force convection area,[m=5]in the transition region of force convection and natural convection, [m=3]in the natural convection and[m=1]in the stagnant region, an exact modeling result can be obtained.

Simulation on the discrete phase movement in mold with argon blowing process
A mathematical model was developed to describe the bubble coalescence, inclusion coalescence, and inclusion adhesion mechanism on the bubbles in the continuous casting mold. This model included the Eulerian-Lagrangian method to predict the size, the speed of discrete phase (including the argon bubble and inclusion), etc. Though the statistical analysis of discrete particles (including the bubbles and inclusions), the effects of blowing argon on inclusion removal were obtained.

Research and practice of the slab casting mould level fluctuation
Since 2013,variety steel’s production of He Steel Hanbao company steelmaking plant is increased, but the problems that the casting mould level fluctuation causes quality problems occur occasionally. In this paper, the author found out the different types of mould level fluctuation and its characteristic curve through on-site tracking. According to the liquid level fluctuation causes, the corresponding optimization measures were taken. Through the technical research, notable results were achieved. (1) Fluctuation meniscus?furnace?ratio?was lowered from 9.63%?to 3.47%; (2) For ultra-low carbon steel, SEN nozzle replacement ratio due to the fluctuation of meniscus was reduced from?16.67% to 6.67%; (3)The level of fluctuation of the liquid level control was improved, the severity and frequency of the surface wave was reduced, and the quality of products was enhanced.

Thermal stress analysis of continuous liquid steel temperature sensor
Transient thermal analysis of continuous liquid steel temperature sensors(CLSTS)was carried out by finite element method, and the finite element model was proved by the real measurement data of temperature. After that, the dynamic stress field of sensors was computed from the temperature field by indirect coupling method. The results showed that high stress area for ordinary and corrosion-resisting CLSTS was between 250 and 450 mm above the bottom, while the one for fast response CLSTS located at the junction between different materials. The maximum thermal stress at high value zone reached its peak after CLSTS was inserted into molten steel for about 40 s. And the peak values of thermal stress were 3.2 MPa, 3.4 MPa and 6.0 MPa for ordinary, corrosion-resisting and fast response CTSFL individually.

Effect of casting process on Nb plate edge crack
Easy encountered transverse cracks in Nb steel plate edge were researched to improve the quality. Though hot pickling detection of slab, metallurgical testing of plate, petrographic analysis of mould powder etc., the origin of slab edge crack defect was confirmed. Slab edge crack mechanism was inductively analyzed. By optimizing continuous casting technology which included process control and optimization of secondary cooling, decreasing Als from 0.045% to 0.025%,adopting mould powder with low viscosity and low melting point for suitable crystallization temperature, and increasing slab straightening zone temperature higher than 900 ℃,the slab corner heat transmission was improved, and then the slab corner cracks and Nb steel edge transverse were controlled.

For surface longitudinal crack of the continuous casting slab of atmospheric corrosion resisting steel, in combination with the production practice, discussed the factors, such as composition, mold powder, mold cooling, secondary cooling, etc., and put forward the improvement and optimization direction of continuous casting process. The production practice indicated that, by adjusting the Ni/Cu rate larger than 0.3, using a special powder of weathering resistant steel with high basicity, high melting point and low viscosity, adjusting the mould taper over 1.0% per meter, choosing the weak cooling in the mould and the secondary cooling zone, controlling the unsteady casting strictly, maintaining the superheat of molten steel at 20-30 ℃, stabling liquid surface fluctuation within 2%, casting speed fluctuation in ±0.2 m/min, the occurrence rate of the slab surface longitudinal cracks was reduced from more than 50% to 3%.
