Safety monitoring of firefighting cylinder based on deformation

Abstract: In order to ensure the safety of firefighting cylinder, a safety monitoring method based on the detection of the deformation of firefighting cylinder was developed. The method used metal wire to measure the outer wall′s deformation of the firefighting cylinder. The effect of internal pressure on the external geometry and shape of the cylinder was investigated under the conditions with axial defects inside of cylinder. Moreover, the influencing rule of defect size on the alarm pressure and safety margin were studied. The results showed that the safety monitoring of firefighting cylinder based on deformation could effectively monitor the dangers of firefighting cylinder due to defects.
