Abstract Phased array ultrasonic testing technology has been applied in various fields of non-destructive detection due to its equipment performance advantages. The defects such as cracking are easily generated in the axle parts of metallurgical vehicles (commonly known as hot metal vehicles, steel tank cars, etc.) due to harsh operating conditions, high strength, and long service life. If failures such as shaft cutting occur, it will inevitably cause significant personnel and property losses. By introducing phased array ultrasonic testing technology and designing a dedicated scanner, the axle parts of metallurgical vehicles (where the defects were easily formed) could be quickly and conveniently detected without dismantling.
