In this paper, with a view of the current status of automotive development of both at home and abroad and performance needs of high strength steel for automotive, hot spots of research and development for Advanced High Strength Steel (AHSS) is comprehensively analyzed. In addition, research and application situation of deformation behavior, forming technology and formability, components crashworthiness of the new generation of advanced high strength steel is selectively analyzed, and the prospect for the future development is also forecast. At the same time, faced with customers and manufacturing challenges of development and application of AHSS, it is required to identify and solve the inherent laws between the fine constitutive characteristics of AHSS microstructure and micro-defect formation and development, deformation behavior characterization of dynamic deformation for high strength steel plate, method and system for scientific assessment of crashworthiness for high-strength steel components. And the forming and application technology of the new generation advanced high strength steel for automobile can be obtained, to speed up development and application of the new generation advanced high strength steel for automobile marked with both the energy conservation and emission reduction, and safety in China.
