Abstract

Texture of cold drawn pearlitic steel wire was investigated by a method combining modified texture measurement method with orientation distribution function (ODF). The wire was austenited at 1223 K for 0.5 h, then isothermally treated at 296, 773 and 923 K for 0.5 h before cold drawing. The results showed that the <110> fibre texture is mainly gathered on the αfibre in cold drawn wire. The main texture components are {001}<110>, {111}<110> and {110}<110>,and the component {001}<110> is the strongest. Results of quantitative calculation showed that <110> component tends to increase from surface to center at 296 K; The <110>component first increases then decreases from surface to center at 773 and 923 K and has the highest value in the center at 923 K.
