Abstract

Normal Fe-Al inhibition layer has been clearly observed under SEM through inclined specimen grinding. Research results show that there are different causes for poor coated layer adhesion in actual production, but abnormal coated lay structure can be found out in every case of poor adhesion. When the ratio of air to fuel gas is unsuitably low in NOF section, carbon enrichment on strip surface will occurs which makes poor coated layer adhesion. When the ratio is unsuitably high, thick oxidation film on strip surface makes it difficult to be deoxidized by reduction section. Poor deoxidized surface results in bad adhesion. In this case, many ZnO particles exist in the coated layer near steel substrate. Delaminated Zn layer causes bad adhesion with ZnO phase found in the delaminated place.
