Large capacity blast furnace was strengthened smelting with the increasing bosh gas volume index. The effect of bosh gas volume index on production of blast furnace and the suitable control range of bosh gas volume index was discussed according to the practice of the furnace bosh gas volume index from 54m3/(min·m2) to 67m3/(min·m2) on NO.5 BF in TISCO. The low fuel ratio and economical production was obtained under the situation of higher bosh gas volume index for large capacity blast furnace.
