Abstract:
In order to investigate the influence of deoxidation processes on the inclusions in electroslag remelted304NG stainless steel,slag-metal equilibrium experiments have been conducted under different deoxidation conditions. The results show that when using Al deoxidation, high melting point Al
2O
3 and MgO-Al
2O
3 inclusions are present in the steel. With an increase in the amount of added Al,the MgO content in MgO-Al
2O
3 continuously increases, and the inclusions tend to agglomerate and grow into clusters. When using the composite deoxidizer Al+CaSi,the steel mainly contains spherical low-melting-point liquid CaO-Al
2O
3-MgO inclusions and MgO-Al
2O
3 inclusions as the core,with CaO-Al
2O
3 as thesecondary layer and CaS as the outermost layer.Regardless of under Al,CaSi,or the composite deoxidizer Al+CaSi conditions,no separate CaS inclusions or MnS inclusions are found.Besides, with an increase in the amount of deoxidizer added, the inclusion content in the steel significantly decreased, and the size of the inclusions became finer.
