Abstract:1700 mm hot strip mill at Jigang is a wide strip production line, which was constructed newly and put into production at the beginning of 2006. Work roll bending and shifting device is equipped on its F2 to F6 finishing stands. On the basis of finite element models, shape setup control models were developed, including work roll integrated contour calculation model, backup roll integrated contour calculation model, shifting setup calculation model and bending force setup calculation model, and so on. Integrated contour is the sum of initial, wear and thermal contours, which has its own calculation model respectively. It took about twenty months to finish the system design, programming, offline and online debugging, and then shape setup control models were put into operation. The crown control precision for all strip specifications was over 96%. In a rolling unit of same strip width more than 70km in length, the bending force at all stands could be adapted automatically with strip thickness and steel grade and the crown control precision was over 95%.
