Abstract:The thermodynamic analysis on iron and boron separation from low grade paigeite was based on carbothermic method. The results indicate that boron and iron could be separated by selective reduction at less than 1500 ℃ and oxide impurities in ore had no influence on it. According a chemical equivalent of C/O = 1 to blend carbon,an experiment was performed. The results indicate that boron and iron could not separated on sufficiently at a temperature less than 1200 ℃ because of ore inset distribution. If roasting temperature was too high then energy consumption was increased without improvement in iron and boron concentrate grade. Therefore the best roasting temperature range was 12001350 ℃ and iron and boron concentrate grade can reach to more than 80% and 12% respectively. The comprehensive utilization of low grade paigeite can be realized.
