Abstract:The primary problem about steel of 45# in Nanjing steel was that high crack rate on strand and roll steel which would easily have different grades of cracking when hot forging or machininging after hot forging. The reason was that a mass of oxidation inclusion in steel which induced low ductility, toughness and fatigue intensity, and finally had bad machininged capability. Therefore, used a series of measures in order to reduce the quantity of oxidation inclusion in steel of 45# and avoid cracking when machininging. The measures included controlling the content of end-point carbon and tapping temperature in BOF to reduce the produced quantity of oxidation inclusion, adding soft blowing time to accelerate ascending float and removing of inclusion, enhancing casting protection to keep the liquid steel from had being second oxidation.
