Abstract:The reasons of temperature rise of hearth sidewall for several times were analyzed and the operation practice on control of sidewall erosion was summarized for No.2 BF at Baosteel. Results indicate that the sharp circumferential flow of hot metal and slag is the major factor of intensified hearth sidewall erosion. By the measures in operation such as activation of hearth deadman, enhancement of central gas flow, rise of hearth bottom temperature as well as improvement of taphole protection, the problem of hearth wall erosion on No.2 BF was solved successfully. Meanwhile, the effect of adding titanium ore on hearth bottom maintenance is notable, but not obvious for the control of hearth sidewall erosion.
