Abstract: The geometry model, material model and boundary conditions, especially the distribution of mesh in the section of Hbeam for the simulation of Hbeam rolling on universal mill were investigated in the FEM model establishing with MSC.MARC software. With the optimized model the rolling process of Hbeam were simulated successfully. Several useful laws were obtained such as the material flow, the distribution of residual stress in the section during rolling, and the deviation of flange deformation and rolling force caused by the horizontal position error of vertical rolls. The results show that the established FEM model is rational and suitable for practise, providing a theoretical reference for production.
