Abstract: The inclusions in the steel samples taken at different stages of AODLFCC process during 409L stainless steelmaking and casting were observed by a scanning electron microscope with an EDS Xray analyzer. The types of inclusions from different stages of the process were analyzed and identified. The inclusions in AOD were mainly CaOSiO2Al2O3MgO compounds, while in LF, it was detected mainly MgOAl2O3TiOx inclusions. Both MgOAl2O3TiOx and TiN inclusions were found in tundish. The origin of the inclusions formed at different stages was also discussed.
