Abstract:MgO has negative effect on the quality of sinter with high iron and low silica. However, MgO can improve metallurgical properties of pellet. Therefore, adding of MgO into pellet instead of into sinter can optimize the quality both of sinter and of pellet. Different magnesium additives have different influence on pellet process parameters and quality due to their varied physicochemical characteristic. The effect of different magnesium additives such as dolomite, serpentine, boron mud and magnesia on pelletizing, firing, physicochemical and metallurgical properties of pellet under high iron and low silica condition were investigated experimentally. The most effective additive for improving the quality of pellet is gained by comparison analysis, which lays foundation for industrial production of magnesium pellet.
