Abstract:The influence of microstructure on hydrogen induced cracking (HIC) of high strength pipeline steel was studied through scanning electron microscopy (SEM), electron backscatter diffraction (EBSD) and other testing methods?from?two?aspects: organizational structure and grain boundary structure. The results indicate that high content and big block of M/A island will lead to obvious hydrogen induced cracking (HIC). Instead, the sensitivity of hydrogen induced cracking (HIC) will reduce through increasing the uniformity of organization. Furthermore, HIC of pipeline steel will grow along the large angle grain boundaries. On the contrary, HIC can be partly prevented on small-angle grain boundaries.
