Abstract:In order to better investigate the slab solidification process in FTSC mold, a 3D transient heat conduction model of thin slab within the funnel-shaped mold was established by the thought of node temperature transfer layer by layer. Through the analysis of ANSYS finite element software, the distribution of the 3D steady-state temperature field in mold was obtained. The heat transfer of mold with parallel plate and funnel-shaped plate was compared. Main results show that the funnel area expanded the storage space of molten steel in the mold, thus, the total heat capacity increased. The temperature at the center of wide surface of funnel slab increased and the shell thickness reduced. The temperature and shell thickness of wide surface at the exit of FTSC mold continuously changed, which was consistent with the funnel-shaped arrangement.
