Abstract The parameters and operation of the ultra fast cooling system in Baotou CSP line are introduced. 590 MPa grade lowcost CMn dual phase steel strips of 411 mm in thickness were developed by using laminar and ultra fast cooling process.The main mechanical properties are:tensile strength 590620 MPa,yield ratio 0.620.67, elongation 26%36% and the n value of 0.21. The effects of ultra fast cooling on the structure of dual phase steel strip are analyzed.
