Abstract The change of N,Ti,Ca,S content in steel GCr15 during EAFEBTLFVDCC process and effect on the product quality were studied. The results showed that the nitrogcn pickup during EBT tapping and LF refining could be eliminated by vacuum treatment and soft Ar blowing in VD process and Ti comes from alloys and refractory; EBT tapping with active lime addition and Cawire feeding could result in the increment of Ca content; high basicity refining slag is benefit to desulfurization, but without modification of inclusions; the major inclusions of GCr15 are rhombic TiN and oxides of Si,Al,Mg.
