Abstract:The cause of surface peeling defect on low carbon Al-killed steel cold rolling substrate in Lianyuan Steel is studied by means of optical metallographic microscope, SEM observation, energy spectrum analysis, slab examination after scarfing, and combined with process data statistics. The results show that the source of cold rolling substrate surface peeling is surface transversal crack on slab, which caused by secondary cooling condition in unstable case. By making control program of optimizing secondary cooling intensity and eliminating water leakage of segment, the quality problem of surface peeling on cold rolling substrate is effectively solved, the hot rolling reject percentage of this steel grade is observably reduced.
