Abstract:The friction behavior between slab and mold has a great effect on slab quality and smooth production. In the present work, the mold process for slab continuous casting is taken as an object, and mold/slab friction is continuously detected on the arced continuous caster. The response of friction to the variation and change of mold level, submerged entry nozzle (SEN), slab width and steel grades are discussed. Besides, the characteristic of friction variation during start-up and casting speed increasing/decreasing process are also investigated and analyzed. It provides an experimental basis for grasping and controlling complicated lubrication and friction behavior.
