Development and Application of 3D Secondary Cooling Model at Tanggang
In this paper the property, theory and applications of a new 3D secondary cooling model are introduced, and the computation and analysis based on the slab casting machines of tanggang is the focus.The quality of continuous-casting is improved significantly by optimizing the equipment and process parameters, and making reasonable plan.

Research and Application of the Slab Dynamic Secondary Cooling Water
In this work, a detailed investigation and analysis on the slab dynamic secondary cold water distribution principle is carried out through the establishment of coordinate system of slab solidification and heat transfer model of differential equations, in order to establish the basic equations of two-dimensional unsteady heat transfer mathematical model of slab. Based on the actual casting conditions, according to the target surface temperature control principle by dynamic setting of the two district cooling water, on-line control of the surface temperature of billet is realized, billet temperature is optimized.

Simulation of Molten Steel Flow and Heat Transfer Behavior in Wide and Thick Slab Continuous Casting Mould
Flow field and temperature field of liquid steel in the mold of Tiansteel 4th slab continuous casting are researched by numerical simulation method. The flow characteristics and temperature distribution of the liquid steel in the mould are obtained under the existing process operating conditions. At the same time, their impact on the slab quality is determined, which provides a basis for the further optimizing process operating parameters.

Development of Solidification and Heat Transfer Software for Billet Casting
On the basis of analyzing the solidification and heat transfer process in crystallizer and secondary cooling zone for billet casting, the solidification and heat transfer software for billet casting was developed. The software was corrected based on practical production data, and numerical simulation for billet casing was carried out. The results show that the shell thickness of crystallizer will reduce 0.5-0.8 mm, and the center temperature at the incision surface will increase 12 ℃ when the casting speed increases 0.1 m/min and the billet is 165 mm×165 mm.

Development of Digital Distribution Control System Based on Slab Caster
On the background of continuous casting machine automation system upgrade, applications of automation softwares SIMENS S7 series PLC and INTOUCH 9.5, and development of new continuous casting process automation model etc. are elaborated. Combined with automatic control at the forefront of casting technology, all processing units of the caster control features for application were developed. Tundish balance control precision mould level control, increase of mould vibration precision and associated cast speed curve, secondary cooling water distribution optimization and other advanced features were accomplished. It is a successful case of continuous casting automation system that was developed and reformed completely domestic independently.

An Independent Frame Clamp Straightening Machine With Double Drive Rollers
In this paper an independent frame clamp straightening machine double drive rollers is introduced. Double driving can improve the billet straightening force, decrease forces of each straightening roll, prolong the service life of rollers. According to process requirements more than one straightening machines can be arranged in continuous casting arc straightening interval, the billet internal focus should be distributed to multiple variables, the deformation rate of straightening points should be controlled within a permissible range.

Computer Aided Design of Roller Layout for Slab Caster
Based on analysis of the theoretical model in the design and check of roller layout for slab caster, a computer aided design software for roller layout of slab caster has been developed. The design and checking calculation of roller layout can be performed after the input of basic parameters, and dimension parameters of roller layout can be given. Under the same design conditions, after comparing the roller layout presented by the software with the roller parameters of actual caster, the result shows that the roller layout determined is in good agreement with the real caster. Meanwhile, the check indexes meet the requirement and the amount of bulging deformation is even better than the actual caster. So the design result is available for practical application.

Renovation of Straightening Machine Universal Coupling in No.3 Continuous Caster of Shouqin
The main function of universal coupling of caster straightening machine is transferring torque from reducer to segment driven roller. This torque drives the slab to go smoothly in segments. Shouqin No. 3 caster universal coupling telescopic position is very close to the segment driven roller connecting flange, and it is corroded easily in the second cooling room, not easy to be disassembled. At the same time, universal joint and segment driven roller flange bolts are easy to loose, causing the dummy bar sinks, which seriously affected the normal production. So after the universal coupling renovation, the corrosion of universal coupling telescopic and the easy loosing of driven roller flange bolt are solved.

Optimization of Steelmaking Process to Improve the Qualification Ratio for Ultrasonic Testing Quality of Extra-Thickness Plate
In order to improve the qualification ratio for ultrasonic testing quality of extra-thickness plate, the cleanliness of the liquid steel and quality of the slab are effectively improved by optimizing the LF refining slag series, the argon bubbling schedule of VD and LF furnace and the processing parameters of continuous casting. The results show that: after optimizing, w[P]<0.015%;w[S]<0.005%,w[O]<5×10-6;w[H]<1.5×10-6;w[N]<40×10-6. The C center segregation and C central porosity were 1.0 and 0.5 for slab and steel plate, respectively. The average qualification ratio of ultrasonic flaw detection was increased by 3.2%, and the highest qualification ratio of ultrasonic flaw detection went up to 99.5%.

Cause Analysis and Improvment for Internal Crack of Medium and Low Carbon Steel Continuous Cast Billet
The factors leading to occurrence of billet internal crack are analyzed on the medium and low carbon steel data from Tianjin Iron and Steel Group Co., Ltd.The effects of liquid steel composition, the superheat and the drawing speed on internal crack are discussed in detail. The results show that the internal crack can be decreased by controlling the upper limit of the carbon, reducing the sulphur and controlling the w(Mn)/w(S) in more than 30.The formation probability of internal crack can be lessened by the lower superheat. The internal crack rate is the lowest when the drawing speed is controlled steadily in the upper limit. The internal crack rate is lessened from 21.26% to 3.40% after taking various measures.
