Abstract: The effect of complex electromagnetic stirring on solidification structure of spring steel 60Si2CrVAT blooms was investigated.The results revealed that, with electromagnetic stirring, center shrinkage cavity and porosity were significantly reduced. The spacing of secondary dendritic arms was in the range of 30250 μm,the percentage of equiaxed zone was increased from 19.6% to 25% and the quality of blooms was significantly improved.
