Abstract:Edgedrop is an important quality evaluating index for crosssection,which directly affects the size of edge cropping and the metal yield.An analytical model of elastic deformation of the rolls based on the influence function method was developed to simulate the rolling process on 6high single cold mill focusing on the effects of rolling parameters such as entry thickness, reduction rate, resistance of deformation, forward pull and backward tension, bending force of work roll and intermediate roll as well as work roll shift on edgedrop. The results showed that the factors of entry thickness, reduction and resistance of deformation have same effect on the distribution of exit thickness along the strip width direction, that means Cc (central crown) and Ce (edgedrop) increase with the increase of these factors. The positive bending force can reduce Cc and Ce, while work roll shift improves the edgedrop control,depending on steel grade,strip width and rolling technology.Thus the work roll shift can not be set by length of work roll and strip width only.
