Abstract:Mould friction is an important parameter of evaluating powder lubrication properties and reflecting the interaction between mould and shell. Due to the complexity of mould friction measurement and calculation, lubrication and friction between mould and shell is currently estimated theortically through analyzing the mould oscillation parameters. Based on the operation of a slab caster which is equipped with hydraulic oscillators, the mould friction and oscillation velocity were measccred.The relationship between the mould friction and negative strip parameters is discussed according to calculated and measured data. The results are helpful to design a reasonable relationship between frequency and casting speed, and understand the transient friction between mould and shell quantitatively.
