Abstract:In order to eliminate surface cracks in beam blanks,based on solidification theory,a mathematical model for heat transfer during solidification of steel in mould of beam blank caster was established.The finite element software,ANSYS,was applied to simulate solidification process. The temperature distribution and growth history of solidified shell were described.The influence of each factor on the behavior of heat transfer and solidification was analyzed. The simulation results provide theoretical foundation for establishing reasonable technical parameters, improving blank quality and reducing steelleakage.
