Abstract:The microstructure evolution of high carbon steel with lamellar pearlite structure during multiaxis and singleaxis warm deformation (warm cross wedge rolling and warm compression) was investigated by the use of SEM, TEM etc. The results show that during multiaxis warm deformation, ultrafine (α+θ) microduplex structure is obtained in surface of the specimen where the size of equiaxed α grains and fully spheroidized θ particles is less than 0.3 μm. In the central part of the specimen, original lamellar θ is fragmented but its arrangement keeps as that as deformed pearlite. For singleaxis deformation, the results are quite different. The difference in strain and stress of specimen during deformation is the primary reason for different microstructure evoluation.
