Abstract:The wear model for backup roll on wide hot strip tanderm mills was developed by dividing the barrel into uniform slices on the basis of measured contours of worn backup rolls. This model is able to calculate contour of online worn backup rolls according to rolling parameters on time. The results of application indicate that the model is accurate to predict the real wear of backup roll comparing the calculated and actual wear contours.
