Cost Reduction for Concrete Reinforcing Steel Bar Production for Wire Rod, Bar and Spooler Line According to the Requirements of International Standards
Abstract:During recent years, the cost of production for concrete reinforcement steel bars has increased due to many factors. These include energy cost and labour cost, but a significant factor is the cost of alloys and microalloys such as Vanadium, which have traditionally been required to meet the mechanical properties. An increasing number of customers worldwide, who are currently using the microalloying method for increasing the mechanical properties of the concrete reinforcement, are demanding alternative methods to reduce or eliminate the cost for microalloys. This paper will analyse the requirements of the latest US and international standards, and discuss in detail the process advantages and limitations of techniques that can be used to reduce the production cost.
