Abstract:The oxidation behavior of carbides in two semi high speed steels for rough rolling rolls were studied at 600 ℃.Based on the study of microstructure and morphology of oxidized surfaces, it was proved,that the oxidation resistance of the Nbrich MC is the worst, the oxidation products extrude the surface, and the cracks are observed on the carbides; the Morich M2C carbides have better oxidation resistance, but these carbides are easier to be covered by the neighboring oxidation products due to the M2C carbides often mix with the matrix; the Crrich M7C3 carbides have the best oxidation resistance.
