Abstract: The FLD and mechanical properties under high speed impact for low carbon TRIP steel were studied. The mechanical properties, microstructure and microhardness of laser welded joint were researched. The ultimate tensile strength and hardness of the laser welded samples were larger than the base material while the total elongation was slightly lower. All of the laser welds were free of cracks and other defects. The low carbon TRIP steel also exhibits excellent formability, high strength and fairly good weldability.
